Upon starting the game, you should see a screen similar to this:
When you start a new game, one letter at a time will fall from the top of the screen to the bottom. The object of the game is to make the letters fall in such a way that they spell a word. The words can be any English word from 3-8 characters in length. Many acronyms and first names are recognized, so be creative! WordTris recognizes over 30,000 words, acronyms, and names!
Pictured below you'll see an example of a word being spelled, NOD. The spelled words will then disappear, causing the letters on top of it to fall down:
The controls are fairly simple. You use the left and right arrow keys to control the position of the falling letter. The speed of the game starts at a rather leisurely pace. After every word is made, the speed will gradually increase!
After approximately every five formed words, a red block will appear. Every letter that is on the screen that this block falls on will be cleared! This is handy for those Q, X, and Z pieces!
There is an extra incentive for finding words within words. You will get points for every word contained within the word! For example, if you spell 'CRAMPS', you will get points for 'CRAMPS', 'CRAMP', 'CRAM', 'RAMP', 'RAMPS', 'AMP', and 'AMPS'!
If the letters pile to the top, the game is over!
High Score Lists
You will have access to two high score lists: local one on your computer, and the online official one! To be eligible to post your score online, you must match at least 30 words for a game! WordTris will notify you if you can post your score online, and it will guide you through the easy process!
To view the online high score list visit the official WordTris website at http://www.automatongames.com/wordtris/ or select Game->Online High Scores from WordTris.
