Change Wallpaper is a utility used to change the Windows wallpaper bitmap file at intervals defined by the user.
The program will choose picture from within an entire directory. It can choose pictures randomly, or sequentially.
When pictures are chose randomly, the program keeps track of the pictures it chooses. This way, it will display all of the pictures in the chosen directory before it refreshes its list and starts all over.
The program will automatically scale down any picture that is larger than the dimensions of the screen that it is being displayed on, so it fits entirely on the screen.
There is an Expand option where you can ask the program to scale up any picture that is smaller than the dimensions of the screen that it is displayed on. You may not like this option if you have pictures that were taken at a low resolution.
I have not wasted a lot of time putting in all kinds of little features and functions that very few people, if anybody, will ever use. That results in bloatware. This program is small and fast.
I will entertain ideas for enhancements, bug reports, suggestions, comments, etc. Please contact me at Software@DaveGrund.Com. Technical support is available for free via e-mail.
Change Wallpaper is manually installed.
1) Create a directory (folder) for the sole use of Change Wallpaper.
2) Copy the distribution file, CW40.ZIP into that directory.
3) Unzip that file using your favorite unzipping program.
4) After all of the files are expanded, MOVE CW40.ZIP to a diskette or somewhere else for safe keeping, out of that directory.
5) Create a Windows shortcut to the program, with no command line parameters. Put this shortcut with all of your other Windows applications. This is the one you will use to call the program up on demand.
The program does not use the Windows Registry, and there are no DLL’s to install. If you wish to uninstall (sob), simply delete the directory and its contents, and the uninstall is clean and complete.
Change Wallpaper will start “minimized”. It will begin by dropping an icon in the System Tray (at the lower right-hand corner of the screen).
To get to the main screen, left-click on the icon in the tray (lower right-hand corner of your screen).
From the main screen, you can
·
Select
the folder from which the pictures for the wallpaper will be chosen
·
Determine
whether you want the program to select the pictures randomly or sequentially
·
Choose
to expand pictures before they are displayed, if they are smaller than the
current screen size
·
Choose
the number of minutes that you want the wallpaper to be displayed before a new
one is selected automatically. This must be a whole number.
·
See
what the name of the currently-display picture is, and what the original dimensions
are (width X height)
·
Delete pictures that you do not wish to display
as wallpaper. Caution: This will physically delete the pictures from the
folder!
·
Change
the wallpaper on demand (instead of waiting the specified number of minutes)
·
Hide
the main form
·
Exit
the program completely.
My suggestion is that you choose a separate directory for all of the pictures that you want to display in Change Wallpaper. Copy all of your precious pictures into that directory. Then, if there are pictures you no longer wish to display, deleting them from this directory will not be a problem.
