When you click on one of the naming policies under the List > Name List menu, WegGrabber attempts to apply the requested policy to every namable shortcut item (i.e. an item whose state is either at "Created or at "Named"). If, after applying the space handling scheme and the character replacement policies, the resulting name comes out to be invalid (ex. an empty name), it will try to apply another naming policy for that item only.
The resulting name is then verified for its uniqueness under the directory where the imported file will be placed. If the same name is found under that directory, WebGrabber will add the shortcut ID prefix (between a pair of underscore characters) to the name. For example, if the resulting file name for a shortcut item is "index.htm" but that name is already reserved for another shortcut item, and if its ID is "[35]", its new file name will become: _[35]_index.htm. The Ignore flag of that item will also be set; this gives you the opportunity to change the name (see the next section).
