Palette is a special view that completes the editor and offers access to designer tools. Clicking a palette entry activates the corresponding tool. An active tool can be used in the Design Editor either by clicking in the editor or by dragging an outline box. There are two types of tools: selection tools and creation tools. Selection tools are the tools that allow to perform the selection of report objects. Creation tools are used to insert various report objects within the report bands. The Palette View can be either docked at the left or right side of the editor, or opened as a separate Eclipse view. To open a separate view choose Window->Show View->Other...->Basic->Palette from the IDE's menu.
