Remove Storage Arrays
$DEV_NAME has been selected
Note: This service activity requires two people to remove the array/tray chassis from the cabinet frame. The tray chassis can weigh up to 90 Lbs. when fully populated.
Have the customer backup all data and stop all I/O to the affected arrays.
Before starting this service action enable the reserve cabinet(s) function.
a) Reserve the cabinet(s) for maintenance.
b) Enter a description of the service action (i.e. removing storage array).
c) Select the estimated amount of time of the service action from the pull-down.
d) Select the Reserve Cabinet(s) button.
e) Other users will be alerted that this service action is in progress when they log in.
From the Configuration Services user interface delete any volumes, virtual disks and pools associated to the original configuration.
If you are sure you have selected the correct array, it will need to be unconfigured: Unconfigure arrays.
a) Select the box next to the name of the array that will be unconfigured.
b) Then select the Unconfigure button to unconfigure the array.
If you are sure you have selected the correct array, it will need to be shutdown: Shutdown array.
a) Select the Shutdown button.
Note: It will take several minutes for the shutdown sequence to complete.
From the rear of the cabinet turn off the power switches on the trays that are being removed.
Disconnect the power cables from each power and cooling unit.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable if present.
Disconnect and remove the two loop card interconnect cables from each side of the tray.
Remove the four screws that secure the tray to the side rails.
From the front of the cabinet remove the trim strips from each side of the tray enclosure.
Remove the four screws that attach the tray enclosure to the the cabinet frame.
Using two service engineers, slowly push the tray enclosure from the back of the cabinet. The second person must be present to guide the tray enclosure from the front.
Remove the eight screws that hold the side rails on each side of the tray enclosure.
Repeat steps 5 through 15 for each tray that is being removed.
Re-cable as required by the final configuration.
a) Add, move or remove loop card interconnect cables .
b) Add, move or remove fiber optic cables.
c) Add, move or remove Ethernet cables.
d) Secure all cables that are not being used out of the way.
If necessary use the following illustrations to assist with the correct interconnect cable connections.

Install the appropriate size filler panel for each tray removed.
A new inventory will need to be created for the new array: Generate new inventory.
a) From the New Inventory screen, select the Generate button from the right side of the screen.
b) After the new inventory has been generated, select the Save button from the right side of the screen.
The agent will now need to be run: Run the Agent.
a) From the left side of the screen select "Yes" for All Devices.
b) From the right side of the screen select the Run button.
A new Topology Snapshot will need to be created for the new array:
a) From the drop down box on the left side of the screen select Archive Current Toplogy.
Disable the reserve cabinet(s) function.
b) Select the Release button from the right side of the screen.
