MsgCore is an Internet mail server and brings both SMTP and POP3 capabilities to your Microsoft Windows®. Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP) is an internet protocol by which mail is exchanged on the Internet. Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3) is a later addition that allows mail servers to hold mail for clients, allowing Internet mail to become a client/server affair. Mail clients use SMTP to send outgoing mail to MsgCore. Mail clients use POP3 to ask MsgCorel for incoming mail.
MsgCore can be used as an in-house mail server with no connection to the Internet. In this configuration, it serves to holdand pass mail for local users. The real power of MsgCore, however, is to connect to an Internet Service Provider (ISP) and pass mail to and from the larger world. MsgCore will work with either a dedicated Internet connection, which is always present, or a dial-up Internet connection, such as a SLIP, PPP, or PPPoE connection that comes and goes. A licensed MsgCore server allows unlimited number of users, mailboxes and mailing lists.
MsgCore is designed for these operating systems: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 family with Service Pack 2 at least, Microsoft Windows 2000 family, Microsoft Windows XP family (except Windows XP HOME), Microsoft Windows XP SP2, and Microsoft Windows .NET 2003.
Antivirus programs
sometimes hang MsgCore, thus you have to disable some antivirus features.
If there’s an antivirus program running on your computer and provides
both real-time and batch scanning, please exclude MsgCore’s data folder
from scanning. MsgCore’s data folder might be placed in “C:\MsgCoreSpool”.
To enable MsgCore antivirus plug-in, please refer to Security Settings section.
Beside, if the antivirus program can intercept e-mail, please disable its e-mail
scanning function; else, it will break MsgCore transmission all the time.
1. This program will
stop after 30 days.
2. 20 mailboxes is allowed.
