Instructions
for use
-
The latest
copy of this document is available at the homepage.
-
Download
your copy of Pratyush e-card from here.
-
Unzip
the files in a separate folder " c:\Pratyush-e-Card".
-
If you
have not registered then you can use only limited functionality, you can
replace the picture files in the "images folder" with your own pictures
but you cannot customize the text messages nor control the animation effect
of text/images.
-
If you
want to obtain the registration code then go to the homepage.
-
Now open
the document "Pratyush Configuartion.html" , after opening it will prompt
you for your user name and registration key.
-
Once you
have registered it will show you a form where all the items of the card
are marked and some default values are also given for ready reference.
-
The items
marked in red are the ones that you essentially have to change to personally
customize your card. The others can be left as default for convenience.
-
A RGB
generator is also provided with the card so that users can readily see
the colors theyare selecting and also know the RGB code for the desired
colors.
-
The specific
details and hints about the respective items are there on the main page
of the configuration applet.
-
After
filling up the form click on the "Generate HTML" button and the required
HTML tag will appear in a text area below the button.
-
Select
the entire text in the box and then depending upon your browser do the
following:
Netscape : right click on the selected text and select "copy" , open a
notepad ( start
program, accessories, notepad) and then right click on the notepad and select
"paste".
Internet Explorer ; after selecting the full text press "Ctrl c" and then
open a notepad
and in the notepad press "Ctrl v".
-
Now save
this file in a separate folder say "c:\greetings" and in the file name
textbox type "greetings.html" including the quotation marks and click "save".
-
In the
same folder shift the "images" folder from "c:\Pratyush-e-Card".
-
If you
have slected to give some of your pictures then put these pictures in the
"images" folder. ( To compact size you can remove some of the pictures
that came as default with thiscard- names are quite descriptive to help
you in that).
-
In the
same folder transfer the file "greetings.jar" from "c:\Pratyush-e-Card".
-
Now you
are all set to go- to see your work just open the folder "c:\greetings"
in window explorer and select "greetings.html" (or whatever name you may
have selected but it should be a html or htm").
-
And thats
it!
-
You may
have to try a few times initially to get your settings right but in most
of the cases the defaults should work for you.
-
The image
files that works with this card will depend upon the one supported by the
Java Virtual Machine of your browser and presently this version has been
tested with gif's,jpg's and jpeg's. There maybe more that will work this
one but I have not tried these options.
-
The final
folder that is ready for sending your greeting card will conatain - "greets.jar",
"images" folder with all your pictures in it and the html file that you
have generated with the configuration applet. That's it!
-
Please
feel free to drop in your suggestions.
