What is AFS :

AFS is an Aerodynamics and Flight Simulator running on a PC dos in SVGA (1024x768) mode.

AFS is an integrated set of tools used to create, edit and check aerodynamics aircraft model and to train to flight navigation. Its user interface is based on a graphical windowing system and use the keyboard and the mouse to interact with the user.

AFS is distributed on one CD-ROM disk containing the software for PC DOS platform. The CD is produced according to the ISO 9660 standard. The software is distributed in an non executable format and the installation must be performed by using the supplied installation script. Please read the chapter 'installation procedure' for detailed information of how to install AFS.

The AFS CD-ROM contains an installation script 'install.bat' and the AFS documentation which is provided in both TXT and HTML format, making it possible to read if you do not have a HTML browser.

System Prerequisites

This chapter lists the hardware and software prerequisites that must be fullfilled for a successfull installation of AFS.By reading this chapter, you will reduced the risk of running into problems that are subject to terminate the installation or may lead to malfunctions or unexpected behaviour when running AFS software.

Available Registered and Demo/Shareware functions , see also download section.

1/ The aerodynamic section
Permit to select aerodynamics properties of your airplane and to tailor it to your needs. This section also contains the build function (sizing, stress analysis, etc...) that permit to check that technologies used to achieve both aerodynamics and structural goals are within possibilities.
It also permit to chose engine type :prop, recip, electric, jet, ramjet, turbofan, etc.The Panel editor is used to design panel for JET/PROP from 1 to 4 engines in SVGA
mode (1024x768x256)

2/ The preflight section
Permit to choose airplane, to set weather, to configure the second screen display monitor for the instructor, prepare for flight (load, fuel limitations, etc.) .

3/ The Flight Simulator section
Permit to train to instruments flight and check concept developed above . The Flight Simulator use a 6 dof axis. All physic laws used are processed through their original equations giving the best reliability.

4/ The log section
Permit to view and analyze recorded flight and check that flight path was within limitations imposed, it also permit to compare with an other flight and to reposition the airplane with different parameters (altitude, velocity, etc.)

5/ The setup section
Permit to configure the simulator display, input device calibration, force feedback calibration, sound, etc.

6/ The help section
Permit to obtain help about the simulator or about instruments .

7/ The reference section
List of books and schools that we found valuable to give to people interested by airplanes
